Description:
Dancing Bear Log Cabin is a beautifully preserved example of the Steiner Log Cabins that are unique to the Mt Hood Area and a highly valued piece of its history. The Steiner brothers also worked on the construction of Timberline Lodge. Their impressive engineering skills and artistic use of naturally shaped wood is evident in these cabins as well as in the architecture of the Lodge, where some of their original tools are on display.
This vintage, three bedroom, one bath cabin is located on historic Barlow Trail Road, and Hackett Creek runs right behind it. Cross the creek on a wooden planked bridge to your own private picnic area and horseshoe pit. The back deck overlooks Hackett Creek and the woods and there is a hot tub to the side of the house.
The owners have carefully maintained the authenticity of this home, and are always adding new and antique items in keeping with the spirit of the cabin. The master bedroom has a queen log bed with luxurious Ralph Lauren bedding, rustic light fixtures and furnishings. The guest bedroom has a double bed. Downstairs, there is a third bedroom with a day bed/trundle and a second TV/VCR. Two futon sofas in the living room provide extra sleeping space. The massive stone fireplace provides warmth and a feel for what our beautiful area must have been like back in the day.
Romance, charm and a warm fire await you at this lovely home. This is a great place to experience Mt Hood from an historical perspective.
Zigzag is an unincorporated tourist-oriented community in Clackamas County, Oregon. It is located within the Mt. Hood Corridor, between Rhododendron and Welches along U.S. Highway 26. The town is named after the nearby Zigzag River, a tributary of the Sandy River which eventually feeds into the Columbia River. One of the ranger stations for the Mount Hood National Forest is located here, in a cabin built in the early 1900s and now on the National Register of Historic Places
